Baptism is one of two sacraments of the United Methodist Church and is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace. Through baptism we are initiated into Christ’s universal church and given new life and a new identity through water and the Spirit.
Baptism is available for people of all ages. Because we believe that baptism initiates you into Christ’s universal church for all ages and denominations, we do not re-baptize people who were baptized in another church or denomination. If you or your child has never been baptized, then our church is ready to assist you in making this commitment.

Infant and Child Baptism
Baptism is extended to children whose parents are members of the First United Methodist Church of Blairstown. We require that the parents be members of this congregation because baptism is a covenant promise that is made where both the parents and church body covenant with God to support, raise, and love the child. If necessary, parents can join the church the same day that their child is baptized.
