SUMMARY:Take a Walk in Faith during Lent
DESCRIPTION:How do we walk with Christ—daily follow him\, grow in him\, and faithfully serve him? In the Gospels\, Jesus modeled for us the Christian spiritual life. The apostles taught it in their writings. And the Church has\, through the last 2\,000 years\, sought to pursue this Christian spiritual life. \nIn The Walk\, Adam Hamilton focuses on five essential spiritual practices that are rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God and taught throughout the New Testament. Each of these practices is intended as part of our daily walk with Christ while also being an essential part of growing together in the church. \nStarting on February 24\, Pastor Dave will lead a 5 week online Bible study that explores these practices\, their New Testament foundations\, and what it looks like to pursue them daily in your personal life and together in the life of the church. Deepen your walk with Christ this Lent and join the conversation – contact Pastor Dave to sign up and get a copy of the book. \n\nTime of event is TBA \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI Want to Walk in Faith this Lent

SUMMARY:Ash Wednesday Service
DESCRIPTION:Each of us is created a precious and holy vessel of embodied love. We have been through a harrowing time since last Lent that has shattered our sense of wholeness–body\, mind\, and spirit–like a glass vessel fractured into pieces. This Lent\, we will observe a “season of recovery” for our physical\, communal\, mental\, intellectual\, and environmental health\, by exploring the healing narratives of Jesus that tell of divine solidarity with human suffering and remind us that we can begin a journey toward making something beautiful from that which is seemingly broken. Beach glass offers us a multifaceted symbol of this transformative process. \nWe will begin the season with an Ash Wednesday service on February 17 at 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday is a time of naming brokenness. As we enter the season of Lent\, we commit to enter also into a season of healing and recovery that requires the naming of what has been shattered as a first step. We take “the yoke” of responsibility as disciples of Jesus to be the Body of Christ–a body of those who need healing and offer healing in the world. The promise of Jesus is that he is with us in our weariness and burdens. \nPlease note that due to the ongoing pandemic ashes will not be imposed as part of this service. Instead\, we will look at the ways that the elements of creation mold and shape us from dust to dust. The service will be available online as well as in person. \nPlease take a look at our COVID-19 Guidelines before attending the service: \n\n\n\nRead our Reopening Guidelines

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Americans have discovered new pastimes in recent months: searching for the elusive COVID vaccine and waiting in long lines to get them (hopefully). Ever since the first vaccines were approved and made available in our country in December\, people have been clamoring to try and be the next person in line to get their shot. \nUnfortunately\, most have been frustrated in their attempts. Appointments fill up as quickly as they become available. Friends are telling friends the minute they hear of vaccines becoming available\, and yet when they try to get them\, they find out that the good lead they followed dried up. And yet we know that people are still receiving vaccines and more are being produced\, and so continue to wait for it to be our turn. \nThis weekend\, as we come towards the end of the season of Epiphanies\, we will hear the story of Jesus coming to Peter’s home\, where he encounters his ailing mother in law. We’re told that Jesus lifted her up\, curing her of her illness and in response\, crowd began to gather at Peter’s doorstep so that Jesus could heal them too. \nSo where are the throngs of people that hunted and searched for Jesus like they did so long ago? Are you still waiting on the Lord to lift you up on wings like eagles? Why or why not? Join us for worship live this Sunday at 10 a.m. as we continue our journey of Epiphanies and reaffirm why it is that we are still Waiting on the Lord. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you want to attend with us online. This is a great opportunity to explore your faith in the company of others who are also seeking to grown in their knowledge of God. No prior knowledge is needed – no exams will be given (at least not by Pastor Dave). \nThrough February 3\, we will be exploring the book of Exodus. During Lent\, we will take a look at the key practices of our faith that lead to growth using Adam Hamilton’s “The Walk”. And after Easter\, we will begin a 6 week look at the Book of Acts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin the Conversation

SUMMARY:Online Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:What’s the difference between an author and a publisher? A teacher\, and a student? When the people at the Texas Children’s Hospital wanted to attract doctors and patients to their facility\, they created an ad that spoke volumes about why people should choose them: they wrote the book. \nAn author of a non-fiction book is someone who knows their subject matter so well that they are able to write the manual on how to do it: doctors who have explored new life saving techniques\, scientists who discovered new theories or new compounds\, mechanics who invented machines or new ways of keeping machines in top performance\, actors who have perfected their art… You get the gist. The authors are the authorities or subject matter experts who literally wrote the book on how to do something. The publisher is the one who prints the book. The student is the one who studies the book. \nWhen I was in seminary\, I was often blessed to be in class with the professors who wrote the books on theology\, Biblical interpretation\, Christian mission\, and so on. When I chose my classes\, I sought out the people who wrote the book rather than the students who merely studied the book because I knew they would know their subjects the best. Likewise\, when you seek out a doctor or a mechanic\, when you find the person who wrote the book\, you know you are in good hands. \nThis Sunday\, as we continue our journey of discovery during Epiphany\, we will come to learn from the One who speaks with authority\, because he literally wrote the book. As we do\, we’ll come to explore yet another way that we can tell that the kingdom of God is near: the demons are running. \nJoin us for live worship Sunday at 10 a.m. as we continue our journey of Epiphanies and discover the difference it makes When the Author Reads the Book. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Zoom\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube

SUMMARY:Online Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:More information about the service to follow. \nIf you want to attend with us online. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength\, And my refuge\, is in God. Trust in Him at all times\, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah Surely men of low degree are a vapor\, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales\, They are altogether lighter than vapor. Do not trust in oppression\, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase\, Do not set your heart on them. God has spoken once\, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. Also to You\, O Lord\, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.” \nGospel: Mark 1:14-20: “After John was put in prison\, Jesus went into Galilee\, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come\,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee\, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake\, for they were fishermen. “Come\, follow me\,” Jesus said\, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him. When he had gone a little farther\, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat\, preparing their nets. Without delay he called them\, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.”
