SUMMARY:Sunday Worship- Advent Week 2
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \n  \nLet’s step back in time for a moment. You grew up in the mid 1800’s\, and you’ve spent your entire life either walking from place to place or at best riding on horseback. You dream of a time when you could see more of the country\, or travel from place to place in a few hours instead of a few days. Then one day\, someone tells you of a fantastic invention called an automobile that would allow you to travel quickly without the use of a horse. Too good to be true? \nNot too long ago in our history\, the answer would most certainly be yes\, and yet today\, cars are commonplace and our dreams have turned to electric powered vehicles\, or even everyday flying transportation. Who knows what the future may hold! \nWe’ve all heard of stories that go well beyond our definition of what is possible\, and yet again and again that threshold is crossed and our definition is expanded. This Sunday\, as we continue our Advent journey of coming alive in the story of Jesus\, we encounter four individuals who have received news that is hard to believe. One scoffs and is left speechless\, while the others are curious and wonder how. \nHow would you receive the news from the archangel about God’s work in the world? How might these stories invite you to expand your notions of what is possible in our world? Join us for worship this Sunday in person or online as we join the Women on the Edge of what is possible. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. If you do not feel well\, and have symptoms related to COVID-19 or were possibly exposed\, we ask that you attend church through our multiple online worship platforms. \nIn-Person: 10 Stillwater Road\, Blairstown\, NJ \nOnline: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube

SUMMARY:Advent Study
DESCRIPTION:At Christmas we not only celebrate the birth of Christ\, but also the fact that God has come to dwell with us. But how do we connect with that presence and enable it to lead us\, teach us\, guide us\, and assure us? \nIn the 17th century\, Brother Lawrence\, a humble monastic cook\, discovered how to encounter God’s presence in his everyday mundane tasks\, and his reflections have become a classic in Christian literature. \nJoin us for a 4-week study of Brother Lawrence’s reflections along with scriptures that lead us to practice Emmanuel\, God with Us\, in our lives. The classes will be offered weekly in person and online on Wednesday’s at 6:30p and Friday’s at 11a beginning on December 1. The book can be accessed for free online at https://ccel.org/ccel/lawrence/practice/practice. \nhttps://meet.google.com/cne-kuuw-yvg

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship - Advent Week 1
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nO little town of Bethlehem\, how still we see thee lie \nAbove thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by \nYet in thy dark streets shineth\, the everlasting light \nThe hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWelcome to the season of Advent! Yes\, in the Christian church\, thing are done a little differently than they are in the rest of the world (as they ought to be). While the radio stations and store displays have been announcing that Christmas is here in the hopes of luring shoppers to open their wallets and spend their money\, Christ’s Church is just now entering the season of hope-filled anticipation; thinking about the things that are to come. \nThe beloved Christmas carol\, O Little Town of Bethlehem\, talks of that town being the place where “the hopes and fears of all the years are met.” This begs the question: what are the hopes and fears of all the years that will meet with the everlasting light? \nAs you come to worship this Sunday\, we invite you to think about your hopes and fears for our world. As you do\, we’ll explore some of the hopes and fears that are described in the scriptures and ponder how the coming of Christ confirms those hopes and allays those fears. We hope that you will make time to be with us in worship online or in person at 10 a.m.\, or whenever you can join us\, as we journey from the Promised Land into the Promised Time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person and Online Worship is available.

SUMMARY:Roadside Clean Up Day
DESCRIPTION:Taking a walk with friends is not only good for your health\, it’s good for our church and our communities! On Saturday\, October 23\, our church has the opportunity to participate in TWO community cleanup days: Blairstown and Knowlton. In order to do so\, we’ll need at least 20 people to join us for a beautiful morning walk. \nThis is a great opportunity to spend some time enjoying the beauty of this area and getting to know the people in your church\, all while raising funds for our ministry and making our communities cleaner. Talk about a win-win-win-win situation! \nTo join\, simply contact Michelle Peterson at the church office.

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \nDo you ever feel like it’s too late to do something in your life? Maybe you’ve wanted to improve your health\, or learn a new skill. Perhaps you’re in a job that no longer brings you joy\, or you want to restore a relationship. Maybe you always wanted to take a trip or do something on your bucket list. Whatever it may be\, sometimes we look at our life and just feel like it’s too late. While there maybe instances in our life where we can no longer do the things we once did\, or that we aspired to do\, many times\, and perhaps most times\, the biggest limitation lies in our heads. Abraham and Sarah knew a thing or two about feeling like it was too late for them to do some things. And they even dared to believe that it was too late for God to do some things. But that certainly wasn’t the case. As you join us for worship this week\, think about the situations in life where you tell yourself it’s too late. What would it be like to dare to look at those same situations with hope and possibility? We hope that you will make time to be with us in worship at 10 a.m. online or in-person as we proclaim that It’s Not Too Late.

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \n\n\n\n\n\nOver the past 5 weeks\, we have been marveling with awe and wonder at the incredible world that God has made for each of us and exploring the many pathways that God offers to embrace the life we have been given and live it to the fullest. We’ve been reminded about the freedom God give us to choose God’s way or our own short-sighted ways; the wisdom that God freely shares with us if we choose to learn from it; the image that we’ve been created in and our call to bear God’s image well in the world by following in his ways; and the desire that our Creator has placed within each of our hearts with a warning of the consequences we will bear when we focus our desire in a way that does not align with God. And last week\, we looked at the many ways that God defends his good creation against the misdeeds of human beings and remembered with hope that God does not settle for the status quo\, and does not want us to settle for it either. \nHaving established this firm foundation\, this week we will look at the blessings that God bestows on us daily and wonder\, why? Why does God bless you? What is the purpose in God’s blessings? What does God want us to do with the blessings that we’re given? How we answer these questions will direct impact on the vibrancy of life we experience in life. \nWe hope that you will make time to be present with us in worship at 10 a.m. online or in-person as we explore the many ways that God is Plotting Goodness in our world. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \nHave you ever found yourself in a situation that you initially thought you could handle on your own\, but later came to realize that you couldn’t? We’ve all been there. Whether it’s tacking a home improvement project\, taking on extra responsibilities at work\, dealing with a situation at home\, handling your own health\, etc.\, we all try our best to deal with it until we can’t. \nSo what’s a person to do? When do you realize that you’ve bitten more than you can chew? Gotten in over your head? How do you know when to call for help? \nUnfortunately\, there’s something in the human makeup that makes us believe that we should try to handle everything on our own and not “burden” anyone with our problems. Somehow we’ve gotten it into our heads that God created us to be self sufficient. But the reality is that there are many things in life that we were not designed to handle by ourselves. \nThis Sunday\, as we continue to explore the foundational stories of our faith in Genesis\, we’ll come to understand that when it comes to our salvation\, we’re In Over Our Heads. With that realization in hand\, we’ll also discover the liberating power that comes from seeking the help that God offers us in Jesus the Christ. We hope that you will make time to be present with us in worship at 10 a.m. online or in-person. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:When was the last time something stopped you in your tracks and made you say\, “WOW\, that’s awesome!”? What does it take for you to sit up straight and take notice of something miraculous around you? \nI have a number of connections on social media who are photographers. What they all have in common is the ability to discover miraculous beauty in common places and focus our attention on it. For instance\, one such photographer loves to capture the beauty in birds that often fly by without our notice. Another has an eye for plants and flowers. And another has an eye for the beauty in humanity’s communities and buildings. \nQuite frankly\, we don’t have to look far to be amazed. As I type this message\, I am reminded of the miracle that is my body and the ability to take my thoughts and translate them into words on this email by combining the ability to control the movement of my fingers with the keyboard on my computer. WOW God! \nThis Sunday\, Eric Drew will lead us as we kick of a new sermon series that will take us through the story of our beginnings as told in the books of the Hebrew Testament. And what better way to start that with the book that begins with these familiar words\, “In the beginning…” \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come together to worship the Lord with Awe and Wonder in our hearts for the miracles that are creation and life. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines.
