SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \nDo you ever feel like it’s too late to do something in your life? Maybe you’ve wanted to improve your health\, or learn a new skill. Perhaps you’re in a job that no longer brings you joy\, or you want to restore a relationship. Maybe you always wanted to take a trip or do something on your bucket list. Whatever it may be\, sometimes we look at our life and just feel like it’s too late. While there maybe instances in our life where we can no longer do the things we once did\, or that we aspired to do\, many times\, and perhaps most times\, the biggest limitation lies in our heads. Abraham and Sarah knew a thing or two about feeling like it was too late for them to do some things. And they even dared to believe that it was too late for God to do some things. But that certainly wasn’t the case. As you join us for worship this week\, think about the situations in life where you tell yourself it’s too late. What would it be like to dare to look at those same situations with hope and possibility? We hope that you will make time to be with us in worship at 10 a.m. online or in-person as we proclaim that It’s Not Too Late. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. If you do not feel well\, and have symptoms related to COVID-19 or were possibly exposed\, we ask that you attend church through our multiple online worship platforms. \nIn-Person: 10 Stillwater Road\, Blairstown\, NJ \nOnline: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \n\n\n\n\n\nOver the past 5 weeks\, we have been marveling with awe and wonder at the incredible world that God has made for each of us and exploring the many pathways that God offers to embrace the life we have been given and live it to the fullest. We’ve been reminded about the freedom God give us to choose God’s way or our own short-sighted ways; the wisdom that God freely shares with us if we choose to learn from it; the image that we’ve been created in and our call to bear God’s image well in the world by following in his ways; and the desire that our Creator has placed within each of our hearts with a warning of the consequences we will bear when we focus our desire in a way that does not align with God. And last week\, we looked at the many ways that God defends his good creation against the misdeeds of human beings and remembered with hope that God does not settle for the status quo\, and does not want us to settle for it either. \nHaving established this firm foundation\, this week we will look at the blessings that God bestows on us daily and wonder\, why? Why does God bless you? What is the purpose in God’s blessings? What does God want us to do with the blessings that we’re given? How we answer these questions will direct impact on the vibrancy of life we experience in life. \nWe hope that you will make time to be present with us in worship at 10 a.m. online or in-person as we explore the many ways that God is Plotting Goodness in our world. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \nHave you ever found yourself in a situation that you initially thought you could handle on your own\, but later came to realize that you couldn’t? We’ve all been there. Whether it’s tacking a home improvement project\, taking on extra responsibilities at work\, dealing with a situation at home\, handling your own health\, etc.\, we all try our best to deal with it until we can’t. \nSo what’s a person to do? When do you realize that you’ve bitten more than you can chew? Gotten in over your head? How do you know when to call for help? \nUnfortunately\, there’s something in the human makeup that makes us believe that we should try to handle everything on our own and not “burden” anyone with our problems. Somehow we’ve gotten it into our heads that God created us to be self sufficient. But the reality is that there are many things in life that we were not designed to handle by ourselves. \nThis Sunday\, as we continue to explore the foundational stories of our faith in Genesis\, we’ll come to understand that when it comes to our salvation\, we’re In Over Our Heads. With that realization in hand\, we’ll also discover the liberating power that comes from seeking the help that God offers us in Jesus the Christ. We hope that you will make time to be present with us in worship at 10 a.m. online or in-person. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:When was the last time something stopped you in your tracks and made you say\, “WOW\, that’s awesome!”? What does it take for you to sit up straight and take notice of something miraculous around you? \nI have a number of connections on social media who are photographers. What they all have in common is the ability to discover miraculous beauty in common places and focus our attention on it. For instance\, one such photographer loves to capture the beauty in birds that often fly by without our notice. Another has an eye for plants and flowers. And another has an eye for the beauty in humanity’s communities and buildings. \nQuite frankly\, we don’t have to look far to be amazed. As I type this message\, I am reminded of the miracle that is my body and the ability to take my thoughts and translate them into words on this email by combining the ability to control the movement of my fingers with the keyboard on my computer. WOW God! \nThis Sunday\, Eric Drew will lead us as we kick of a new sermon series that will take us through the story of our beginnings as told in the books of the Hebrew Testament. And what better way to start that with the book that begins with these familiar words\, “In the beginning…” \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come together to worship the Lord with Awe and Wonder in our hearts for the miracles that are creation and life. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you.

\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you old enough to remember the famous movie critics: Siskel and Eibert – if you wanted to know their take on a film\, all you had to do was look for “ TWO THUMBS UP!” \nThis week\, James goes against our cultural grain by giving only “one thumb up” to going faster\, while giving “two thumbs up’ to going slower! \nIn our fast paced world\, where we want everything yesterday\, and speed means better\, let’s see where James is going with this!!! \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts and hear from the author of James about the importance of slowing down\, and avoiding anger. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis week it is our joy to welcome Rev. Randy Parks to our church as our guest preacher. Randy is the chaplain manager at Newton Medical Center and has been caring for patients there for 17 years. He and his wife Lori\, and two children live in Sparta with his menagerie that includes a dog\, two cats\, a rabbit\, and a lizard. Please be sure to extend a warm Blairstown UMC welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever received a gift that you weren’t expecting? It’s so nice that you wonder how you might thank them! You might want to give them something back in return or find a way to adequately show your gratitude! This week as part of our series on “Gearing Up For Life” we look at what it means to give thanks to God for each one of our blessings and humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord\, because giving thanks is a crucial component of keeping us grounded in our actions and behaviors and readying us for the problems we face as a Body of Christ. \nIn Ephesians\, Paul examines how to incorporate this giving thanks in our faith to our everyday lives\, and to work so our lives can be encouraged and invigorated by our faith in the teachings of Jesus despite living in a broken world in his time. The same can apply for our calling on this day as faithful disciples. For our service this week\, think about how you can shift the mindset from what you don’t have\, to what God has already blessed us with! Think about how this thankfulness can be brought out into this broken world we might be living in today to heal\, to humble\, and to love. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:How many of you have seen the game show\, “To Tell the Truth”? For those who haven’t seen it\, or haven’t seen it recently\, three people try to portray themselves a someone\, with only one of them being the actual person. A panel of 4 contestants are then given the opportunity to ask the people questions to determine who is telling the truth\, and who is just sharing a good story. \nWhile this makes for a fun filled half hour on television\, it’s no fun to live in a world that is filled with so many people making false claims and telling out and out lies. We rely on people being honest with us and detest when people take advantage of us by deceiving us. \nThis Sunday\, as we continue our look at the book of Ephesians\, we come to a section that I like to call “the house rules of Christian community.” These house rules help us create a community where everyone feels supported and trust is built – a place where all of us can flourish in our life and in our faith. \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts and hear St. Paul’s call to create a community where Speaking Truth is the norm among other important relationship skills. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you. \n  \n  \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person: 10 Stillwater Road\, Blairstown\, NJ \nOnline: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube
