SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:When was the last time something stopped you in your tracks and made you say\, “WOW\, that’s awesome!”? What does it take for you to sit up straight and take notice of something miraculous around you? \nI have a number of connections on social media who are photographers. What they all have in common is the ability to discover miraculous beauty in common places and focus our attention on it. For instance\, one such photographer loves to capture the beauty in birds that often fly by without our notice. Another has an eye for plants and flowers. And another has an eye for the beauty in humanity’s communities and buildings. \nQuite frankly\, we don’t have to look far to be amazed. As I type this message\, I am reminded of the miracle that is my body and the ability to take my thoughts and translate them into words on this email by combining the ability to control the movement of my fingers with the keyboard on my computer. WOW God! \nThis Sunday\, Eric Drew will lead us as we kick of a new sermon series that will take us through the story of our beginnings as told in the books of the Hebrew Testament. And what better way to start that with the book that begins with these familiar words\, “In the beginning…” \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come together to worship the Lord with Awe and Wonder in our hearts for the miracles that are creation and life. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. If you do not feel well\, and have symptoms related to COVID-19 or were possibly exposed\, we ask that you attend church through our multiple online worship platforms. \nIn-Person: 10 Stillwater Road\, Blairstown\, NJ \nOnline: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \n\n\n\n\n\nAre you old enough to remember the famous movie critics: Siskel and Eibert – if you wanted to know their take on a film\, all you had to do was look for “ TWO THUMBS UP!” \nThis week\, James goes against our cultural grain by giving only “one thumb up” to going faster\, while giving “two thumbs up’ to going slower! \nIn our fast paced world\, where we want everything yesterday\, and speed means better\, let’s see where James is going with this!!! \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts and hear from the author of James about the importance of slowing down\, and avoiding anger. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis week it is our joy to welcome Rev. Randy Parks to our church as our guest preacher. Randy is the chaplain manager at Newton Medical Center and has been caring for patients there for 17 years. He and his wife Lori\, and two children live in Sparta with his menagerie that includes a dog\, two cats\, a rabbit\, and a lizard. Please be sure to extend a warm Blairstown UMC welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever received a gift that you weren’t expecting? It’s so nice that you wonder how you might thank them! You might want to give them something back in return or find a way to adequately show your gratitude! This week as part of our series on “Gearing Up For Life” we look at what it means to give thanks to God for each one of our blessings and humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord\, because giving thanks is a crucial component of keeping us grounded in our actions and behaviors and readying us for the problems we face as a Body of Christ. \nIn Ephesians\, Paul examines how to incorporate this giving thanks in our faith to our everyday lives\, and to work so our lives can be encouraged and invigorated by our faith in the teachings of Jesus despite living in a broken world in his time. The same can apply for our calling on this day as faithful disciples. For our service this week\, think about how you can shift the mindset from what you don’t have\, to what God has already blessed us with! Think about how this thankfulness can be brought out into this broken world we might be living in today to heal\, to humble\, and to love.

DESCRIPTION:How many of you have seen the game show\, “To Tell the Truth”? For those who haven’t seen it\, or haven’t seen it recently\, three people try to portray themselves a someone\, with only one of them being the actual person. A panel of 4 contestants are then given the opportunity to ask the people questions to determine who is telling the truth\, and who is just sharing a good story. \nWhile this makes for a fun filled half hour on television\, it’s no fun to live in a world that is filled with so many people making false claims and telling out and out lies. We rely on people being honest with us and detest when people take advantage of us by deceiving us. \nThis Sunday\, as we continue our look at the book of Ephesians\, we come to a section that I like to call “the house rules of Christian community.” These house rules help us create a community where everyone feels supported and trust is built – a place where all of us can flourish in our life and in our faith. \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts and hear St. Paul’s call to create a community where Speaking Truth is the norm among other important relationship skills. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you. \n  \n  \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person: 10 Stillwater Road\, Blairstown\, NJ \nOnline: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Last Friday\, the members of our Red Bird Mission team returned from their trip to Beverly\, Kentucky. In the 7 days that they were gone much was accomplished: 2 houses received new roofs\, a house was painted and received a new stoop\, another home received a wheelchair ramp\, new gutters\, and a remodeled bathroom\, and nearly 3 faculty apartments were prepared to receive new tenants in the fall. Not bad for a group of 42 amateurs from PA\, NY\, & NJ ranging in age from 13 to 70+! \nThe work that we did wasn’t just about the tasks that were completed\, though. Lives were changed. People’s sense of dignity was changed. People’s awareness of God’s presence was increased. People’s connections to others on the Way were made closer. All because individuals who were rooted and grounded in the love of Christ came together and committed themselves to do the work of God in the world. \nThis Sunday we will continue our journey through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. In his words to his followers\, Paul encourages them to live a life worthy of the calling to which they’ve been called. What does that life look like to you? \nAs we consider Paul’s words\, we will hear from our missionaries about their adventure and learn what it means to them to live in a community of people who are dedicated to worshipping God and serving in the name of Jesus the Christ. In their stories\, we may just find inspiration for what it means to be the Body of Christ living in our community today. \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts and hear St. Paul’s call to Live a Life Worthy. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:This past week\, a group of 10 people from our area traveled to the Red Bird Mission in rural Kentucky to support their work camp ministry\, which provides free home repair and improvements which enables the low income residents to have a roof over their heads that safely shelters their family. For some who joined us on the trip\, this was their first journey with us\, and one of the first questions that they ask is\, “what do we need to pack for the journey?” \nThe packing list for our trip includes some things that you would expect\, as well as some items that are unexpected. The expected includes work pants\, t-shirts\, sturdy shoes\, and a hat to keep you cool. Some of the unexpected include a sleeping bag and air mattress to sleep on a church floor overnight\, a large water bottle to prevent dehydration\, and some tasty snacks to share with your travel mates in the van (especially the driver – gotta keep him happy). \nThis week\, as we continue our “Gear Up for Life” sermon series on Ephesians\, we’re going to consider what provisions we need to live our lives well and participate in God’s work in our world. What are some of the “must have” items that you would put on your list? What do you think some of the surprises might be? \nSet some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts and hear St. Paul’s Prayer for the Provisions we will need for a faithful life. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, many of you have been taking advantage of opportunities to get out of the house and travel to see loved ones and other destinations that you’ve missed seeing over the past year. As you arrive at your destinations or prepare to board various modes of transportation\, some of you have encountered a question that you might not have encountered before: “Are you well enough to travel?” \nCertainly\, this question has arisen in response to the pandemic\, but in many ways it’s a question that we’ve always had to ask. Are we up for the journey? Have we healed from our past wounds and illnesses so that we can face the new adventures that await us in the future? \nThis Sunday\, Pastor Wen-Ling Lai will lead us in worship to consider the healing grace and peace that Christ showers upon us. Are you aware of healing possible for all of the chosen & beloved sojourners this life on earth? Although we might be redeemed by the Son and sealed/secured by the Holy Spirit\, we often ignore or forget about the healing possible from God. \nJoin us online or in person this Sunday at 10 a.m. for a healing worship service as we gather to explore\, exchange and experience the provisions for healing and restoration from the wounds and brokenness! \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we ask if you are attending in-person\, to please wear a mask and follow CDC guidelines. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:This Sunday\, we’re beginning a new sermon series that will guide us through the Book of Ephesians. Ephesians has been called “the Queen of the Epistles”. Why so much enthusiasm for a letter? Perhaps the simplest response is that the letter contains everything you need to explain the faith in one compact package. It’s about gearing up\, about making sure that our faith is not just an internal thing\, not just a head thing. It is about living out the faith. \nWe start by throwing a party. To celebrate what\, you ask? The God who has blessed us in every way – that’s what we’re celebrating; that’s what we are testifying to. But these aren’t exclusive blessings. Rather\, we are reminded that we are blessed to be a blessing. \nHow are we reaching out to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the community around us? Whose life has been affected by the church in tangible ways? \nJoin us as Mike Tironi leads us in worship online and in person this Sunday morning at 10 a.m. as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts ready to Set our Hope on Jesus the Christ. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Tell me if this has ever happened to you: your in the middle of your day\, moving right along with your projects at work or at home\, when all of a sudden the power or the internet go out. Suddenly all of the momentum you had\, whether your project was binge watching your favorite TV series or trying to power through your to do list\, is lost and things come to a screeching halt! \nThose of you who are still sensible enough to live in the analog world are probably laughing at me right now\, but all of you digital world people know just want I’m talking about. We can feel so great about all that we can do in this world until the source of our productivity goes away. It is then that we are humbled and acknowledge just how dependent we are on sources of power that are external to ourselves. \nThis Sunday\, as we celebrate the Fourth of July\, we’ll have an opportunity to get real about the Source of our power and strength\, both as individuals and as a country. As we do\, we’ll come to find\, like Paul\, that our strength comes when we let the power of Christ flow in and through our lives. \nJoin us as our community of faith gathers for worship online and in person this Sunday morning at 10 a.m. as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts ready to Know the Source of our Power. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person and Online Worship is available.
