SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Ever hear something that was simply beyond your capability or willingness to believe it? Like the Red Sox overcoming a 3 games to none deficit to defeat the Yankees in a best of 7 series in 2004\, or a lobster that is blue\, or person that killed a mosquito with a dart. \nSome things just go beyond our understanding of how things are supposed to work\, or seem so improbable that we just can’t wrap our minds around them. And so rather than allow ourselves to be tricked into believing something\, that seems impossible\, we choose instead to rely on our own first hand experience to prove to ourselves that it’s true. \nLast week\, we celebrated just such an occurrence. The resurrection of Jesus defies logic\, nature\, and science\, and yet it is the foundation of our faith. This week\, as we continue to Dare to Dance in the joy and hope of Resurrection\, we hear the story of Thomas\, who speaks for us all. Unless I see…I will not believe. \nWhat criteria do you use to affirm your beliefs? How do you overcome your doubts when you can’t see for yourself? \nJoin us for worship this Sunday at 10 a.m. online or in person as we continue to celebrate Easter learn to Dance as Easter People. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship starts at 10 am. SUMMARY:Coffee Talk with Pastor Dave
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot going on in our world today – a lot to talk about! And worse yet\, there aren’t many opportunities to talk about it. How are you making sense of all that’s happening? Where are you sensing the movement of the Spirit in the midst of everything? What are you learning from others who see the world differently? \nWith all of this in mind\, Pastor Dave is inviting you to join him for a series of virtual coffee talks every other Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Like the fictional Liz Rosenberg made famous by Mike Myers\, we’ll start with a timely topic and create an open and safe space to ask questions and talk with others\, some of whom will disagree and agree with you. \nThe goal of the conversations is not to convince others to see the world as you do\, but to provide a place of sharing stories and listening to the stories of others. Whether we agree or disagree with someone will take a backseat to learning from each other’s experiences and discerning the movement of God. In the process\, our hope is to grow closer as a community and gain clarity in the ways that God is working and and through our lives. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin the Conversation on ZOOM

SUMMARY:Easter Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:In 1952\, people learned a new dance and discovered a new relationship with the rain after Gene Kelly famously showed us that it was indeed possible to sing (and dance) in the rain. Actually\, the song was written in 1929\, but it was Kelly’s rendition that helped it stick in our hearts for over half a century. \nHow is it that some people are able to have a song in their hearts when the circumstances around them are less than ideal? For many\, it is love: the love of another person\, the love of life\, the love of God; and for others\, it is the knowledge of an event so wonderful that nothing can diminish their joy. \nThis Easter Sunday\, and throughout the season of Eastertide that follows\, we will focus on just such an event and the way it empowers us\, as Christians\, to dance in joy! \nWe hope that you’ll take time to join us for worship as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus the Christ with 4 special services\, which will be open to people to join us in person and online. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Zoom\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Red Bird Registration Due
DESCRIPTION:After taking a year hiatus last year due to the pandemic\, we are once again offering the opportunity for people to travel to the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky to serve in mission to residents of some of the poorest counties in the U.S. who are in need of home repairs and improvements. While you are there\, you will have the opportunity to grow spiritually\, learn new skills\, and learn about the lives and culture of the Appalachian people. \nThe mission has taken great strides to keep people safe during the pandemic. It is recommended that people have their vaccines and test negative for COVID prior to going on the trip. The trip will take place from July 17-23. A deposit of $218.50 is required by April 1 if you wish to participate. Contact Pastor Dave for more details. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more about Red Bird

SUMMARY:Virtual Coffee Talk with Pastor Dave
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot going on in our world today – a lot to talk about! And worse yet\, there aren’t many opportunities to talk about it. How are you making sense of all that’s happening? Where are you sensing the movement of the Spirit in the midst of everything? What are you learning from others who see the world differently? \nWith all of this in mind\, Pastor Dave is inviting you to join him for a series of virtual coffee talks on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. Like the fictional Liz Rosenberg made famous by Mike Myers\, we’ll start with a timely topic and create an open and safe space to ask questions and talk with others\, some of whom will disagree and agree with you. \nThe goal of the conversations is not to convince others to see the world as you do but to provide a place for sharing stories and listening to the stories of others. Whether we agree or disagree with someone will take a backseat to learn from each other’s experiences and discerning the movement of God. In the process\, our hope is to grow closer as a community and gain clarity in the ways that God is working and through our lives. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Conversation on ZOOM

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:There is something about walking along the coast that facinates people. It is a unique boundary where two worlds collide: the world of animals that live on dry land and the world of iife that lives in the sea. Perhaps that’s why people are so intrigued by all of the shells and other items that can be found along the shore. It’s a glimpse into a world that is foreign and inaccessible to many of us. \nI too am guilty of having my head in the sand so to speak while walking along the beach\, keeping my eyes pealed on the objects that are down by my feet looking for one that just might catch my eye and gathering it up as soon as it does – items that the sea has discarded\, but that have become a treasure in the eyes of the beachcomber. \nWe often describe God as a divine Shepherd that leaves the 99 sheep who are safe to search for the one that is lost. This week\, we will give that image a different spin and explore the image of God as our Holy Beachcomber\, strolling along the shoreline and gathering us up as his treasures to be brought home for safe keeping. \nAs we do\, I invite you to think about your role in God’s work of salvation. As God has gathered you in and healed you\, how are you being sent out to gather others and offer them the healing and wholeness that only Jesus can give them? \nJoin us for worship online or in person this Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or stream it online when it’s convenient\, as we journey along the shore with Jesus to gather treasures for Safe Keeping. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Zoom\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube

SUMMARY:Take a Walk in Faith during Lent
DESCRIPTION:How do we walk with Christ—daily follow him\, grow in him\, and faithfully serve him? In the Gospels\, Jesus modeled for us the Christian spiritual life. The apostles taught it in their writings. And the Church has\, through the last 2\,000 years\, sought to pursue this Christian spiritual life. \nIn The Walk\, Adam Hamilton focuses on five essential spiritual practices that are rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God and taught throughout the New Testament. Each of these practices is intended as part of our daily walk with Christ while also being an essential part of growing together in the church. \nStarting on February 24\, Pastor Dave will lead a 5 week online Bible study that explores these practices\, their New Testament foundations\, and what it looks like to pursue them daily in your personal life and together in the life of the church. Deepen your walk with Christ this Lent and join the conversation – contact Pastor Dave to sign up and get a copy of the book. \n\nTime of event is TBA \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI Want to Walk in Faith this Lent

SUMMARY:Ash Wednesday Service
DESCRIPTION:Each of us is created a precious and holy vessel of embodied love. We have been through a harrowing time since last Lent that has shattered our sense of wholeness–body\, mind\, and spirit–like a glass vessel fractured into pieces. This Lent\, we will observe a “season of recovery” for our physical\, communal\, mental\, intellectual\, and environmental health\, by exploring the healing narratives of Jesus that tell of divine solidarity with human suffering and remind us that we can begin a journey toward making something beautiful from that which is seemingly broken. Beach glass offers us a multifaceted symbol of this transformative process. \nWe will begin the season with an Ash Wednesday service on February 17 at 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday is a time of naming brokenness. As we enter the season of Lent\, we commit to enter also into a season of healing and recovery that requires the naming of what has been shattered as a first step. We take “the yoke” of responsibility as disciples of Jesus to be the Body of Christ–a body of those who need healing and offer healing in the world. The promise of Jesus is that he is with us in our weariness and burdens. \nPlease note that due to the ongoing pandemic ashes will not be imposed as part of this service. Instead\, we will look at the ways that the elements of creation mold and shape us from dust to dust. The service will be available online as well as in person. \nPlease take a look at our COVID-19 Guidelines before attending the service: \n\n\n\nRead our Reopening Guidelines

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:One day\, Sir Isaac Newton was resting in the shade of an apple tree\, when one of the most important aha! moments in history literally hit him over the head. As an apple fell out of the tree\, his curiosity was peaked about the way that the apples fell. He observed that an apple will always fall perpendicularly from its tree. This realization led him to further investigate the forces that caused this to happen\, which led him to eventually uncover the law of gravity. Of course\, Newton didn’t discover this all in one day. There were many discoveries and studies that led to this day\, and many more that came as a result of that day. \nOur journey of epiphany has been one of discovery about Jesus’ identity and purpose in our lives and in our world. Over the course of these 6 weeks\, we have understood Jesus to be a newborn king come to reign over the nations\, God’s son with whom he is well pleased\, one who knows us better than we know ourselves and calls us to disentangle ourselves from the world as we know it. We’ve learned that he speaks with the authority of God\, and that he has the power to lift us up from all that holds us down and resurrect us to new life. \nLike the newly called disciples\, we have grown in our awareness of the spiritual nature of our Lord and Savior\, but perhaps we haven’t been able to put it all together. This Sunday\, the disciples will put the pieces together as they go on a mountain retreat with their teacher. Like Newton’s encounter with the apple\, they will come to see Jesus in a whole new light as he is transfigured before them. Once this happens\, they will never see things in the same way. \nJoin us for live worship online this Sunday at 10 a.m.\, or recorded and ready for you when it’s convenient\, as Rev. Dr. Vicki Brendler leads us in the story of Jesus’ Transfiguration and the many ways that it opens our eyes to see Jesus in a whole new light. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Zoom\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube

DESCRIPTION:Americans have discovered new pastimes in recent months: searching for the elusive COVID vaccine and waiting in long lines to get them (hopefully). Ever since the first vaccines were approved and made available in our country in December\, people have been clamoring to try and be the next person in line to get their shot. \nUnfortunately\, most have been frustrated in their attempts. Appointments fill up as quickly as they become available. Friends are telling friends the minute they hear of vaccines becoming available\, and yet when they try to get them\, they find out that the good lead they followed dried up. And yet we know that people are still receiving vaccines and more are being produced\, and so continue to wait for it to be our turn. \nThis weekend\, as we come towards the end of the season of Epiphanies\, we will hear the story of Jesus coming to Peter’s home\, where he encounters his ailing mother in law. We’re told that Jesus lifted her up\, curing her of her illness and in response\, crowd began to gather at Peter’s doorstep so that Jesus could heal them too. \nSo where are the throngs of people that hunted and searched for Jesus like they did so long ago? Are you still waiting on the Lord to lift you up on wings like eagles? Why or why not? Join us for worship live this Sunday at 10 a.m. as we continue our journey of Epiphanies and reaffirm why it is that we are still Waiting on the Lord. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you want to attend with us online.
