SUMMARY:Membership Class
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to take the next step in your faith journey?\nOur relationship with Jesus is a journey that takes us deeper in our understanding of God\, our understanding of ourselves\, and our understanding of the world God has created. The best way to take this journey is to be a part of a group of people who are committed to seeking and serving the Lord. \nBecoming a member of our church is a wonderful way to be a part of just such a group. As a member\, you are incorporated into a loving family that wants to grow in faith with you. \nPastor Dave will be starting a new membership exploration class on Thursday\, January 21. Over 4 weeks\, participants will have the opportunity to explore the Christian faith through conversations about their own faith experiences and Will Willamon’s book “Why I Am a United Methodist.” \nTo learn more or sign up\, contact Pastor Dave today! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact Pastor Dave

SUMMARY:Virtual Coffee Talk with Pastor Dave
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot going on in our world today – a lot to talk about! And worse yet\, there aren’t many opportunities to talk about it. How are you making sense of all that’s happening? Where are you sensing the movement of the Spirit in the midst of everything? What are you learning from others who see the world differently? \nWith all of this in mind\, Pastor Dave is inviting you to join him for a series of virtual coffee talks on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. Like the fictional Liz Rosenberg made famous by Mike Myers\, we’ll start with a timely topic and create an open and safe space to ask questions and talk with others\, some of whom will disagree and agree with you. \nThe goal of the conversations is not to convince others to see the world as you do but to provide a place for sharing stories and listening to the stories of others. Whether we agree or disagree with someone will take a backseat to learn from each other’s experiences and discerning the movement of God. In the process\, our hope is to grow closer as a community and gain clarity in the ways that God is working and through our lives. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Conversation on ZOOM

DESCRIPTION:Part of our rejoicing in the greatest gift from God is making room to welcome Jesus into our lives. The start of the New Year is the perfect time to begin a new practice that connects you in a deeper way to the Source of Life\, and our Faith Conversations group is a wonderful place to start. \nEach Wednesday at 7 p.m.\, our Faith Conversations group takes time to read God’s word and explore how it applies to our lives. You don’t have to be a Biblical scholar to join us – just a person like yourself who wants to make room for God in their life. SUMMARY:Online Sunday Worship
DESCRIPTION:More information about the service to follow. \nIf you want to attend with us online. You can attend through ZOOM\, Facebook\, or Youtube! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Zoom\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Facebook Live\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorship on Youtube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPsalms 62:5-12 : “My soul\, wait silently for God alone\, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength\, And my refuge\, is in God. Trust in Him at all times\, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah Surely men of low degree are a vapor\, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales\, They are altogether lighter than vapor. Do not trust in oppression\, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase\, Do not set your heart on them. God has spoken once\, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God. Also to You\, O Lord\, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.” \nGospel: Mark 1:14-20: “After John was put in prison\, Jesus went into Galilee\, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come\,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee\, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake\, for they were fishermen. “Come\, follow me\,” Jesus said\, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him. When he had gone a little farther\, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat\, preparing their nets. Without delay he called them\, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.”

SUMMARY:United Methodist Student Day
DESCRIPTION:Education Opens Doors\nYour United Methodist Student Day Gift Can Open Them\nDo you remember the “good news” story from the Morehouse College commencement in May? The commencement speaker\, billionaire Robert F. Smith\, pledged that his family would pay off the $40 million student loans of all 396 graduating seniors. \nWouldn’t it be amazing if we were able to do something like that? What would it look like if\, as a church family\, we could help students graduate from college without the burden of overwhelming debt? On November 24\, United Methodist Student Day\, we have the opportunity to do exactly that. \nUnited Methodist Student Day is one of six Special Sundays when we receive an offering for a particular ministry through the denomination. On the last Sunday in November\, your gifts through this offering benefit students as they pursue opportunities in higher education. Your contribution will be joined with those of millions of other United Methodists to provide scholarships to deserving recipients. This offering has raised more than $400\,000 and helps more than 300 students a year. \nUM Student Day was first celebrated in 1940 when a college education could be attained for $450 annually. Today\, that same education costs an average of $23\,000 each year. We are invited to invest in young leaders by giving generously on United Methodist Student Day as part of our offering on November 24 or online umcgiving.org/giveUMSD. Please be in prayer with the students who are recipients of the education made possible through this special offering. Thank you!
