DESCRIPTION:The First United Methodist Church of Blairstown’s Food Pantry will be distributing food on Saturday\, December 4\, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. This is an opportunity for anyone living in our area to come and receive the nutritional support they need to feed their family. Our goal is to eradicate food insecurity in our community by providing food to people in need\, regardless of their situation. Food will be distributed in a drive-thru format with a custom order being provided for each family. To have an order prepared for you\, contact our church office. \nDonations of non-perishable food or personal care items may be left in the red bin outside the church’s kitchen entrance. Financial contributions may be sent to the church or through our Facebook donations. Thank you for your support!

Then one day\, someone tells you of a fantastic invention called an automobile that would allow you to travel quickly without the use of a horse. Too good to be true? \nNot too long ago in our history\, the answer would most certainly be yes\, and yet today\, cars are commonplace and our dreams have turned to electric powered vehicles\, or even everyday flying transportation. Who knows what the future may hold! \nWe’ve all heard of stories that go well beyond our definition of what is possible\, and yet again and again that threshold is crossed and our definition is expanded. This Sunday\, as we continue our Advent journey of coming alive in the story of Jesus\, we encounter four individuals who have received news that is hard to believe. One scoffs and is left speechless\, while the others are curious and wonder how. \nHow would you receive the news from the archangel about God’s work in the world? How might these stories invite you to expand your notions of what is possible in our world? Join us for worship this Sunday in person or online as we join the Women on the Edge of what is possible. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available. DESCRIPTION:Worship starts at 10 am. \nChristmas is a wonderful time of year for so many reasons: the taste of the wonderful food\, the sights of twinkling lights in our homes and communities\, the sounds of laughter and music\, and the celebrations of family and faith. It’s also a wonderful time of year because of the spirit of generosity that pervades across cultures and faiths. \nIn the story of Jesus’ birth\, outsiders came to pay homage to the newborn child king. These wise men\, or magi\, came bringing gifts to celebrate and acknowledge the wondrous gift that God had given the world – a gift that would serve all of humanity and encourage us to serve one another. It is in this spirit of giving and service to one another that we continue the tradition of gift-giving to this day. \nAs you celebrate the gift of God incarnate and the gift of God’s light\, we invite you to join us for worship this Sunday in person or online at 10:00 a.m. as Mike Tironi leads us in exploring the story of those first visitors who came Sharing Gifts\, and the important ways God invites us to share gifts with one another today. \nIn-Person and Online Worship is available.
