In the mid 1990’s electronics retailer Radio Shack sought to connect with customers who were tired of watching the clock on their VCR’s blink 12:00. Their solution? Easy answers to their technical questions with the motto, “you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers!” (editor’s note: yes, this is a dated reference. Can anyone think of a more current one?)

Jesus knew a thing or two about ministry to people with questions. Some people had honest questions about his teachings and earnestly wanted answers that would help them follow him more closely. But then there were those who asked questions simply to trap him and prove him wrong. Whether they were the chief priests and scribes, Pharisees, or Sadducees, Jesus took all of their questions in stride and continued to proclaim the Kingdom of God in all of his answers.

What questions do you have for Jesus? If you had the opportunity to ask him anything, what would you ask? How would you imagine him responding to your questions? As we celebrate All Saints Sunday, we will consider the questions saints through the ages have brought to their faith and ponder our responses to our modern day Band of Puzzlers.
