As the calendar drifts ever closer to the winter solstice, the sun is getting lower and lower in the sky, and the shadows seem to be getting longer and longer. As this happens, I notice that spaces that used to be sunny are now covered in shadows. In fact, just this morning as I was walking over to the church, I discovered that the sun was still struggling to come out from behind the trees in the hillside.
Our lives can feel similarly shadowed at times – like there are spaces within us where the light of love, hope, and warmth once dwelled, but now struggles to reach. During these times, it’s easy to wonder where God is and when that light will reappear.
This Sunday, as we gather for worship in our sanctuary or online, Diana Nause will lead our reflection on how it is that we can live in confidence that the light of Christ will enter into the cracks of our lives and lead us into God’s peace and hope. I hope to see you there!
