Back in the 1990’s, Dana Carvey entertained audiences with his Saturday Night LIve skit titles “Church Talk” featuring the church lady. In this alternate persona, which sought to make light of the judgment people felt when they went to church, the Church Lady pointed out those that she was certain were overcome by Satan and going to hell. Sadly, Carvey’s character was not very far off from the judgment people often experienced from those who were supposed to be known more for their love than their condemnation.

Today, many questions remain about Satan and hell. People often make many assumptions about where someone stands in the eyes of God and how they will spend eternity based on observations they make about others. But is this what Jesus taught about hell? Can any of us really know?
