Have you ever received a gift that you weren’t expecting? It’s so nice that you wonder how you might thank them! You might want to give them something back in return or find a way to adequately show your gratitude! This week as part of our series on “Gearing Up For Life” we look at what it means to give thanks to God for each one of our blessings and humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord, because giving thanks is a crucial component of keeping us grounded in our actions and behaviors and readying us for the problems we face as a Body of Christ. In Ephesians, Paul examines how to incorporate this giving thanks in our faith to our everyday lives, and to work so our lives can be encouraged and invigorated by our faith in the teachings of Jesus despite living in a broken world in his time. The same can apply for our calling on this day as faithful disciples. For our service this week, think about how you can shift the mindset from what you don’t have, to what God has already blessed us with! Think about how this thankfulness can be brought out into this broken world we might be living in today to heal, to humble, and to love. Set some time aside to join us for worship this week as we come before the Lord with praise in our hearts and hear St. Paul’s call to create a community where Giving Thanks to the Lord and each other is the norm. You can join us live in our sanctuary or online on Sunday at 10 a.m., or stream our worship service at the time that works best for you. |
