When I started in ministry, I was nervous to say the least. I had never been a pastor before, and had never run a church. Most significantly, I had never led a funeral – how on earth was I going to do that?! Well, as fate (aka God) would have it, I was sitting in my office on my first day and wouldn’t you know it, the first person to call me had just lost his father and was wondering if I could handle the funeral. <Gulp!>

Knowing that I needed to care for this family, I did 2 things. First, I reached out to my mentor and asked him to guide me through the process and support me during the funeral service. Second, I started taking walks through the cemetery across the street and began to figure out what exactly I believed to be true about death. In the process, I discovered one of life’s little secrets: in order to live life to the fullest, we need to get clear about what we believe about death.

This Sunday at 10:00a, I invite you to join me for worship in our sanctuary or online as I lead us in gaining clarity about what our faith teaches about life and death (here’s a hint: Jesus wins!), and ultimately how we can discover a deeper connection to the Spirit of Life in the process. I hope you’ll join me!
