Have you ever been asked to take care of something for someone? Maybe you took care of someone’s pets, plants, or home while they were away, or babysat their children while they were out. Or perhaps you were hired to manage their business or store location, or oversee their finances. No matter what the reason, if you have ever had to take care of something for someone else, you know what it means to be a steward.
To be a steward of something simply means to take care of it on behalf of someone else. In the context of the church, we often, unfortunately, talk about stewardship in terms of our money and how we give it, but stewardship is so much more than that! If we truly understand that the world and all that is in it is created by God and belongs to God, then our care of everything needs to be looked at through the lens of stewardship.
This Sunday, as we continue to journey in the light of resurrection in this season of Eastertide, we’ll look at the many ways Jesus’ triumph over the grave leads us to an Uprising of Stewardship. We pray that you’ll make time to be present with us in person or online as we gather for worship in our sanctuary at 10 a.m.
